Programs

NIFA programs are the mechanism by which we pursue our mission to invest in and advance agricultural research, education, and extension to solve societal challenges. Some programs administer funding and offer leadership while others focus on national leadership and collaboration. For more information on a particular program, use the site’s search tool.

Vulnerable Populations

Populations of young people may be identified as vulnerable based on situational characteristics such as early parenthood, disconnection from school and work, homelessness, and involvement in the juvenile justice and foster care systems.

Adult Development and Aging Programs

The NIFA Division of Family and Consumer Sciences (DFCS), in partnership with the land-grant universities, is committed to addressing priority issues related to older adults through research, education, and Extension. Together, through this unique partnership, resources are made available to meet the educational and decision-making needs of older adults, their families, and those who care for them.

Financial Capability

Too many people experience financial crisis because of inadequate savings, too much debt, and poor planning. The overall goal of financial capability is for people to acquire the knowledge, skills, and motivation to build financial security.
