Programs

NIFA programs are the mechanism by which we pursue our mission to invest in and advance agricultural research, education, and extension to solve societal challenges. Some programs administer funding and offer leadership while others focus on national leadership and collaboration. For more information on a particular program, use the site’s search tool.

Young Adults

While the majority of 4-H youth development work is conducted with youth at the school age level, the 4-H program also provides an opportunity for young adults.

4-H Science

4‑H science programs are available through local clubs, schools and grant-funded programs. Focus areas for 4‑H science programs include robotics, rocketry, environmental science, agri-science, biotechnology and veterinary science.

Rural Health and Safety

Many individuals and families living in rural areas and communities experience disparities related to physical and behavioral health, safety, and well-being. Such disparities are often triggered by the hardships of poverty and inadequate access to gainful employment and resources.

Weed Science

NIFA supports research and extension projects designed to provide answers to the many challenges weedy plants pose for agricultural production and managed properties in residential and urban areas.

Workforce Development

NIFA promotes workforce development and employability through national program leadership, funding for integrated research, education, and extension activities, and strategic partnerships and collaborations.
