Data Management Plan for NIFA-Funded Research, Education, and Extension Projects
NIFA’s mission is to invest in and advance agricultural research, education, and extension to solve societal challenges. NIFA’s investments in transformative science directly support the long-term prosperity and global preeminence of U.S. agriculture. Increased access to scientific research results (i.e. scholarly publications, digital data sets); education (i.e. curriculum and training products, number of students graduated); and extension (i.e. outreach materials, number of stakeholders’ reached) data from NIFA-funded projects is critical to achieving NIFA’s vision to catalyze transformative discoveries, education, and engagement to address agricultural challenges. Therefore, an appropriate data management plan (DMP) should be a core component of the research, education, and extension planning for applications submitted to NIFA.
Beginning in Fiscal Year 2019, NIFA is requesting DMPs for all competitive grants programs.
In Fiscal Year 2018, NIFA requested DMPs for the following competitive grants programs:
- Agriculture and Food Research Initiative Program
- Biotechnology Risk Assessment Grants Program
- Citrus Disease Research and Extension Program
- Organic Research and Extension Initiative Program
- Organic Transitions Program
- Specialty Crops Research Initiative Program
