Enhancing Extension's Effectiveness: Digital Green's Innovative Approach

On March 8, 2017, the Co-Founder and CEO of Digital Green (www.digitalgreen.org), Rikin Gandhi, presented a webinar on his organization's work using innovative digital technologies to strengthen extension's effectiveness in Asia and Africa and the potential for adapting relevant approaches here in the U.S. This event was sponsored by NIFA's Center for International Programs and eXtension. Digital Green is a global development organization that empowers smallholder farmers to pull themselves out of poverty by harnessing the collective power of technology (i.e. locally-produced videos, interactive voice response, and mobile phone applications) and grassroots-level partnerships. When farmers have the tools they need to connect with one another, they’re far more likely to apply/integrate what they’ve learned onto their farms and into their households – creating positive change in their own lives and those of their families and communities. This webinar is the first in a series to help explore the possibility of adapting some of their work for use with the Cooperative Extension System here in the U.S.

This 60 minute session took place 12:30 PM, March 8, 2017 EST. Watch the recording.
