Donna Hiatt recently joined NIFA as an Institute of Youth, Family, and Community Program Specialist in Kansas City, Missouri. Prior to joining NIFA, Donna taught science at the middle and high school levels for 12 years and has extensive experience with youth development and teaching science content areas, including Biology, Environmental Sciences, and Physics. While teaching in public schools she was an Assistant Coach for Lego League Robotics Program. She also worked as a Quality Assurance Supervisor for Tyson Foods, Inc. at their World Headquarters in Research and Development from 2000-2004 where she gained expertise on HACCP, Food Safety, and Quality.
She received her B.S. degree in Food Science from Kansas State University and a minor in Business. Donna has 21 graduate hours in Education with a research focus from Arkansas State University and Arkansas Tech University.
