Dr. Rubella S. Goswami is the National Program Leader for Plant Pathology, providing leadership for research and extension efforts in the areas of pest management across all crops. Rubella’s current responsibilities include serving as the Director for the National Plant Diagnostic Network (NPDN) program and Co-Director for the Crop Protection and Pest Management Program, with specific responsibility for the Extension Implementation (EIP) area. She is also the Co-Director for the AFRI competitive program on Pests and Beneficial Species in Agricultural Production Systems.
Rubella has a background in applied and molecular aspects of Plant Pathology. She joined NIFA in 2017, after working for several years in both the academia (faculty) and the industrial sector. Her educational background includes an Undergraduate degree in Agriculture from Banaras Hindu University, India; master’s degree in Plant Molecular Biology from the University of Nottingham, UK; and doctoral degree in Plant Pathology from the University of Minnesota, US. Her expertise includes pest management, plant pathology, and host-pathogen interaction.
