iEdison provides a single interface for grantees and contractors to interact with multiple government agencies. The tool makes it easy to learn about the law and its regulations and report an invention or patent funded by government agencies.View this tool
Users of iEdison include any person who has received government funding which contributed to the development of an invention or patent.
NIFA requires that intellectual property (patents, inventions) achieved as a result of its funding be reported by grantees through Interagency Edison (iEdison). For official requirements and instructions on reporting patents, Plant Variety Protections (PVPs) and inventions through iEdison, please consult the resources listed below.
Requests for Extensions
While one of the purposes of the Bayh-Dole Act is to accelerate the transfer of technology developed from federal research funding into use, NIFA recognizes that sometimes time extensions are required to address the specific actions required by the Act. Requests for extensions may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Requests should document actions taken on the invention and the reason an extension is required.
